Q: I am African-American, and I was wondering if you knew of any affordable cosmetic brands that would look good on my skin.
A: There are a number of great options out there now for African-Americans. Revlon makes a great line now for darker skin, as does Iman, which is sold at Sears. However, I would suggest that you spend a little extra on foundation and then you can go crazy at the drugstore with some great color options. My favorite foundations for African American skintones are from MAC. The color choices are exceptional and the prices are very reasonable. You can get a great foundation for around $20. Iman also has a great line that is affordable and has added a new color options line that is at Sephora. When choosing colors for eyes and cheeks, look at colors that have a bit of gold or red in them, as these colors really tend to flatter African-American skintones.
