Q: I am on the hunt for a new look. I usually don't wear foundation because it looks too heavy, so I am thinking of trying a tinted moisturizer maybe. Having never worn blusher, can you also tell me how I might try one of those new blush sticks? Or better ye

A: I'm with you on not wanting to wear too much foundation. My favorite tinted moisturizer is Laura Mercier's and I'm really liking Prescriptives UnMakeup. My favorite sheer foundation, however, will always be MAC's Face and Body. I would highly recommend this one. Many professional makeup artists swear by this stuff. If you go to the MAC store they should be able to give you a sample and most artists working for MAC can match a color to you really well. Also check out MAC's HyperReal foundation while you are there - very sheer but gives a subtle shimmer/glow. Stila also makes a powder foundation called Illuminating Powder Foundation, which is wonderful. I prefer to brush it on for very sheer color, or over liquid foundations for a little more coverage. Definitely try to get a sample of a foundation, though, before buying to make sure you like the coverage and that it doesn't break you out.

As for blush, I would definitely check out Stila's Convertible Colors, especially in Rose, Magnolia and Peony. I just love these and pretty much wear one everyday on both my cheeks and lips. Also Nars Malibu Stick would be great for you. It gives a pretty sunkissed flush. If you would prefer a powder blush, I love Bobbi Brown's Pale Pink and Tawny or Stila's Fade, Tutu, and Hint. I'm not sure what kind of color you are looking for in a blush, but these are all very nice shades.

Good luck!
